At the Downforce, we’ve used the ClubSport Pedals V3 as our daily driver for over a year. It’s undoubtedly been one of the most reliable pedal sets that we’ve used and the overall performance is a fantastic option for all forms of sim racing.

ClubSport Pedals V3 Features

There are many aspects of the ClubSport Pedals V3 to appreciate. However, we’ve summarised our favourite elements of the pedal set below.

Unrivalled Build Quality

From the onset, the build quality of the ClubSport Pedals V3 is astonishing. Featuring full metal construction of CNC-machined aluminium, the pedals are definitely eye-catching at first glance. The pedals are very sturdy and can easily be mounted to most sim rigs. I’m currently using the Next Level Racing Wheel Stand 2.0, and I found it incredibly easy to install through the integrated screw holes on the base of the pedal set. There was absolutely no flex at all, regardless of whether it was mounted to my rig or unmounted.

Superb Load Cell

You have probably heard of the term load cell, when looking for a set of new pedals. However, what exactly is a load cell and how can it translate to quicker and more consistent lap times?

The first thing to look for in a great set of sim racing pedals, are load cells. Unlike your traditional potentiometer brake pedal that measures the braking input via distance, a load cell is an advanced technology which uses force transducers to translate pressure applied onto the brake to electric signals, measurable by the game. This means that you will potentially produce more consistent lap times as a load cell that is correctly calibrated will make it easier to find the threshold of the brake, thus preventing wheels from locking up.

Out of the box, the ClubSport Pedals V3 come with an adjustable 90KG load cell. This advanced load cell is extremely durable, allowing you to apply strong pressure to precisely control the brake with muscle tension.

Vibration Motor

The Fanatec ClubSport Pedals V3 also feature vibrating motors on gas pedal, which indicates rear wheel spin and oversteer. Furthermore, there is a vibration motor that is also on the brake pedal which stimulates ABS and indicates locking tires. Personally, I found this feature to be very useful and it definitely adds to the immersion when you feel your car. This feature is compatible across all games and can be dynamically controlled via Fanatec Wheel SDK.

Highly Customizable

The customization is evident with the ClubSport Pedals V3. Right out the box, the set comes with a complimentary set of D-shaped pedals which can replace the stock plates, providing a completely new look and feel. I’ve tried both the stock and D-shaped plates and I must say, both are amazing in their own right! Fanatec has released a video which details how to swap between the two. Moreover, there is an extra included spring inside the box. This allows you to pick the perfect resistance of choice on the throttle.

There are optional accessories which can be paired with the ClubSport Pedals V3.

If you’re looking for a stronger brake feeling, then look no further than the Brake Performance Kit (BPK). The Elastomer springs are manufactured from high-end material and is super durable. Personally, these are a must to have as it completely changes the feelings of the brake pressure point as the stock brake pedal pads might feel a bit mushy to some. I would suggest purchasing these along with the ClubSport Pedals V3 as you will save on postage costs if you decide on purchasing them later.

In hindsight, the Brake Performance Kit is used to provide additional customization in increasing the brake pressure, while reducing the pedal travel when stepping down on the brakes. There are multiple permutations of the elastomer springs, allowing you to choose your ideal braking pressure setup. Below is a detailed breakdown of the different setups you can use.

Another optional accessory that is purchasable with the ClubSport Pedals V3 is the damper kit. This accessory provides a hydraulic dampening resistance (scale of 0-8, adjustable by the included knob) on either the brake or the throttle. The hydraulic dampening provides a more realistic gas pedal feeling. However, I definitely recommend going with the brake performance kit as the value to performance ratio is much higher compared to the damper kit.

ClubSport Pedals V3 Verdict

Personally, using a load cell pedal has been night and day for me compared to a potentiometer pedal. I’ve experienced much less accidental lock-ups and have found it a lot easier to work on the trail-braking technique. I do wish that they included the brake performance kit as part of the bundle because it is a huge performance changer on the brakes. However, the customization of this pedal set is what sets it apart from anything else that I’ve used. Being able to change the feeling of the throttle, brake and also the appearance of the pedals are just something you won’t get from any other pedal sets from the market at this price point.

Overall, this is a pedal set that I would recommend anyone who is looking for a load cell pedal set which has endless customization at a fair price point. If you’re on a tighter budget, then we would recommend the CSL Pedals as an entry option!
